Crazy Crafters March Blog Hop with special guest - France Martin

Welcome to the Crazy Crafters Blog Hop and my first ever blog hop. This hop we have a Special Guest - France Martin (AKA Frenchie)! Frenchie is a wonderful inspiration, and makes the most amazing projects! I watched many live craft sessions with Frenchie on Periscope and before this I used to search for inspiration on her YouTube clips.

What Card Am I CASEing of Frenchie's?

We are all choosing a card of France that we are inspired by and want to CASE. The definition of CASE is Copy and Selectively Edit. It was so hard to decide which card to CASE as I love them all, but there was one in particular that I saw her do and really wanted to try it. OMG, I am so glad I finally did. The effects and result are amazing and fun to do (you never know what the end result will be) :)

Before I go any further, here is a picture of France Martin, the lady behind all the gorgeous cards.

The card I chose to CASE is below.

Why I Chose this Card:

I absolutely loved the effect of this Joseph Coat watercolour technique - it reminded me of something we did in primary school called 'Sgrafitto'

  1. a form of decoration made by scratching through a surface to reveal a lower layer of a contrasting colour, typically done in plaster or stucco on walls, or in slip on ceramics before firing.

We used to do it with crayons or coloured oil pastels. Then we would paint over the entire thing with black paint. When the paint was dry we would scratch into it revealing colour. This technique produces the same effect but is far more sophisticated.

My Card

I just love how this card turned out!

So much inspiration went into the colour choice. As I was walking to school to drop off my son this is what I saw - I instantly knew that this would be my colour palette.

To make this card I followed the instructions from this YouTube clip.

Instead of using watercolour paper I used whisper white and sponged on my colours.

The 3 colours I used for the sponged background:

  • Flirty Flamingo
  • Melon Mambo
  • Sweet Sugarplum

  • Stamp Set: "Kinda Eclectic"

    Clear embossed using Versa Mark.

Then covered with Real Red - the colours really reflect the flowers in nature currently in bloom.
I used the new Dapper Denim cardstock to mount the smaller card  onto and melon Mambo cardstock for the larger card!

and as Frenchie would say "VOILA"!!!

I had so much fun making this beautiful card with the Joseph Coat technique- thank you so much for the inspiration France. You are going to love this hop today and everyone's take on Frenchie's cards.

Here are some other variations of the same technique using different colours.

I absolutely love doing this technique - and they all turn out slightly different due to the nature of the randomly sponged background!

Thank you so much for joining us! Remember that currently you are at my blog - Louise Jappe you can check the list below to see who is up next. Global Design Project #41 - Colour Challenge

Hi everyone, now that I'm getting into the swing of this blogging I thought I'd challenge myself and join in for my first Global Design Project Colour Challenge. Talk about jumping into the deep end. There are so many talented SU Demonstrators so make sure you check out their amazing card designs too!

So without further a do, here's my card.

I actually love how these three colours worked together! Sweet Sugar Plum is definitely one of my favourite new In-Colours.

For the inside I stamped the sentiment in SweetSugarPlum too.

Here is a closer look at the front. I heat embossed the sentiment with white powder. I like the glossy finish it gives the card. Thanks for stopping by.

Here is a list of what I used to create this card:

                                  Thankful Thoughts
                                  Touches of Texture

                                  Wedding Card - Bloomin Heart

                                  Wedding Card

As I have an upcoming wedding to attend in July I thought I'd get organised and make a start on a card. I decided that rather than spend my time on Pinterest, I'd just create my own card so it was unique and not CASED in this instance. I tend to spend so much time pinning all my favourite cards that I often don't get time to actually sit down and make a card.

I also thought it would be the perfect opportunity to highlight it on Kylie's Team Project Highlights.

I wanted it to be simple but classy so decided to keep things minimal. I am happy with how it turned out.

Inside I used another sentiment from the  'Rose Wonder' stamp set. I used gold glimmer cardstock for the heart. I love how crisp this looks. I embossed in gold and for the background of the card I used white emboss powder. I love how it turned out, using white emboss powder on a white background. Subtle, yet effective. The close up photo shows how it turned out!
