Strawberry Sketches #SS0007

Hi and welcome to another Strawberry Sketch #SS007

This week our sketch challenge was really cute and I couldn't wait to put something together for it.

Click here to go to the Challenge Blog!

Here is the Challenge Sketch for this week:

Here is the card I came up with for this particular challenge:

Here is a photo of the technique used to create the multi-coloured sponged background

I used quite a few different products for this card - my background was created using the new DSP - Irresistibly Floral!!! I love how the sponged colour blends so well to create an interesting textured background.

The card was mounted onto Dapper Denim Cardstock.

I used a wink of stella (gold) to colour in the flowers that were stamped around on the centre panel of whisper white cardstock.

I used Vellum to create my base for the sentiment and heat embossed with the new Copper Embossing powder!!

I also used the Rose Garden thinlits die to create the Melon Mambo rose and the shape of the sentiment was also cutting using a die from this set!!!

Here is a close up of the Rose - it is mounted onto Foam strip - which I cut in half again so it was super thin and attached quite well!!
Well thanks for stopping by and happy crafting.

Crazy Crafter's August Blog Hop with Special Guest - Wendy Cranford

Hi everyone and welcome to another fabulous Blog Hop with the Crazy Crafter's. This time we are CASEing (Copy and Selectively Edit) Wendy Cranford. Here is a link to her fabulous blog so you can find out more about her and be inspired :)

http://www.luvinstampin.com/about-wendy

The card I chose to CASE for this blog hop was one that absolutely jumped out at me! Maybe it was the colour combination or the sparkle of the sequins or even the hint of washi tape - but I absolutely loved it and knew this was a card I'd love to try and CASE. So here is the card that Wendy created- isn't it fabulous!!!!

and here is my take on the card:

This photo shows how the bird from Picture Perfect is sitting above the rest of the embellishments. I used the foam strips for this part so it was higher than the rest of the card. I also fussy cut it, so it would stand out on the card!

The sentiment is mounted onto Stampin' Dimensionals.

I used the same washi tape (Pop of Pink) that Wendy used on her card - I just love how it looked in the background and complimented the splatters on the left hand side of card using Awesomely Artistic.

Here is a collection of products I used to create this card:

Now don't forget to keep hopping (next up - Michelle Mills) and check out the other amazing Crazy Crafter creations for this blog hop and don't forget to leave a comment - we love getting feedback!

Strawberry Sketches #SS006

Hi everyone,

this is my first time joining in with the weekly Strawberry Sketches - I have looked at the sketch for this week and was inspired to create a card using a stamp set I hadn't yet touched.

Here is the sketch for this week:

Click here to go directly to Sarah Berry's blog if you'd like more information about this Sketch Challenge.

and here is the card that I came up with:

I used some metallic cotton behind the sentiment to add some shine and it sat nicely on the beautiful metallic ribbon (also available from the new holiday catalogue - only available to demonstrators who pre-order, but if you can't wait till the catalogue is released then why not join my team and order these amazing products now)!!

This triple layered card was really easy to create but the effect is very striking! Here are the measurements I used to create this card.

Measurements

Original card size: 6" × 4"

Layer one in whisper white 5 3/4" × 3 3/4"

Layer two in black 5" × 3"

Layer three in whisper white 4 3/4" × 2 3/4"

Layer four in black 4" × 2"

Layer five in whisper white 3 3/4" × 1 3/4"

Instructions

To make this card, I assembled all the whisper white layers using a piece of washi tape on the back to temporarily hold it all in place. I stamped my images and then pulled them up. I then glued them down on the card from largest to smallest ensuring I mounted each on a piece of black cardstock that I'd previously cut.

I originally only stamped the starburst at the top left hand corner to follow along with the sketch suggestion - however it looked a bit bare - so I continued on and stamped some more starbursts around the card. I used the new Ombre inkpad in Calypso Coral and and the new Black Ombre ink pad available in the new holiday catalogue. I loved the sentiment and really lifted it up using dimensionals first, then sticking onto foam strips. This enabled the star underneath to be seen a little better and created some depth!

Here is a photo of some of the products I used for this card

Well I had fun making this card - if you haven't joined in for a sketch challenge then you should really try it. It definitely inspires creativity and helps to create something you may not normally come up with.

Happy Stamping!

Crazy Crafter's August Blog Hop - CASING Dawn Olchefske

Welcome to another 'Fun' Blog Hop with the Crazy Crafter's for the month of August.

If you are following the blog - you've just come from Juana Ambida - an amazing Crazy Crafter who makes the most beautiful cards (it's a hard act to follow)!

This time we are CASEing (Copy and Selectively Edit) a card from Dawn Olchefske. Here is a picture of Dawn and a link to her blog if you wish to check out more amazing creations that she has made.

The card that I have decided to CASE for this Blog Hop is a gorgeous card using another of my favourite stamp sets - "Awesomely Artistic"! As soon as I saw Dawn's card, I knew this was the one I wanted to CASE. I love how this card was created with the soft sponged background and the gorgeous dragon fly flying across the card. I loved the bling in this card too, it's such a sweet card I couldn't wait to recreate it with a few variations!

Here is the card that Dawn created:

and here is my card:

I used the NEW foam strip to stick the sentiment down. It added extra height and helped make it pop off the card!

I also fussy cut the dragon fly and mounted it onto stampin dimensionals so it also sat slightly raised from the rest of the card.
This is a close up of the background so you can see how the background was sponged on before stamping the flowers and ferns. I used Wisteria Wonder and Sweet Sugar Plum to sponge the background. I only used Flirty Flamingo for the three ferns that I stamped to add an additional colour to the composition.

Make sure that you keep on hopping and check out all the other fantastic cards/creations that the Crazy Crafter's have made for your viewing pleasure. Your next hop should be Rosalie Desmond - so grab a coffee and enjoy the show!

Crazy Crafter's August Blog Hop with Special Guest - Jennifer Michalski

Welcome to another wonderful Blog Hop with the Crazy Crafter's. We have a super doper busy month this August with lots of Blog Hops planned, so make sure you pop back throughout the month to see what else we have been up to.

This time we are CASING - Jennifer Michalski - click here to see her personal blog

It was so hard to decide which card to CASE (Copy and Selectively Edit) but in the end I really liked the following card. It was one of the Global Design Projects with a challenge to use the following 3 colours - Melon Mambo, Smokey Slate and Basic Black. As these are 3 of my favourite colours I had to choose this card.

Here is Jennifer's Card:

and here is the card that I came up with:

I used the following stamp sets:

Here is a photo of the card before I attached the sentiment (couldn't decide whether to use it or not?)

What do you think??

This card has also been entered into the What Will You Stamp Challenge blog #WWYS77 as they are using this particular stamp set for their challenge.

You can see the other awesome entries by following the link.

Inside the card is a panel of Melon Mambo cardstock to break up the black. I really love this stamp set - 'Touches of Texture' - such a fun versatile stamp set! The sentiment is from the stamp set 'Thankful Thoughts', another favourite of mine at the moment.

I used some dimensionals to lift up the sentiment and make it pop off the card. I also placed a dimensional behind the two individual flowers too that I punched out to give them a raised look and add depth to the card (top left hand side of card).

Thanks for visiting and please feel free to leave a comment - I would love to know what you think of this card!

Enjoy the rest of the Blog Hop and don't forget to have a look at the other amazing creations from the Crazy Crafter's Team!
