Crazy Crafter's September Blog Hop with Special Guest - Bibi Cameron

Now with so many cool ideas on Bibi's blog, is was hard to choose a card or project to CASE as I wanted to pick so many!!! In the end I went with a card that Bibi created using the balloon punch, but took the idea or concept to create my own version. Here is the card that Bibi created:

I totally loved the concept of stamping a background and then creating another level above with the same image - isn't it effective!!!

Here is my CASE of the card:

Firstly, I used some new DSP - It is called Irresistibly Floral Designer Series Paper (DSP for short). It is just magic, with a white embossed pattern on each sheet that really pops when you sponge ink over it. As you can see in the photo - I used two colours for this background. Emerald Envy and Cucumber Crush.

Now, originally I stamped the leaf from Thoughtful Branches across a cut out leaf using the Thinlit die. However it really didn't work in the same way that Bibi managed to do it? Maybe because the leaf is smaller or the shape is too defined (I'm not sure) but it didn't have the same effect. So in the end I removed the leaves and created some more and attached them to the bottom right hand corner of the card. This looked much better and appeared more clear! I decided to attached some of the new Burlap ribbon across the leaves for a rustic look and then finally a sentiment. But again, I stamped out a sentiment and it look weird covering up the bottom part of the leaves. So I had a brain wave - I had purchased some Jet Black Stazon Ink and some acetate sheets. BINGO!!! My solution to my problem. A sentiment without covering up too much of the background. I love how this came to together and although it ended up being quite different to Bibi's card, the end result was still pretty cool!!

Inside the card, I used some of the left over sponged cardstock from the front to cut out some leaves using the Thoughtful Branches thinlit die. This added an extra dimension to the card and some interest to the white interior.

Well, I hope you liked my take on Bibi's card and draw some inspiration from this card or from some of the ideas and techniques that were used to put together this card.

#CTC008 - Flower Patch

today I decided to play along with Jessie Holton's 'Case this Card' challenge #CTC008. Each week the winner of the challenge is the card you must case for the following week.

So here is the winning card that I'm casing this week. Kirsten did a fabulous job with her card, it looks so bright and happy. I love how she has put this card together.

So I decided to use the same stamp set and matching framelits to create my card.

I really enjoyed pulling this "Flower Patch" stamp set out again as I haven't used it in quite a while. I decided to create the large flowers using the new Ombre Ink that Stampin' Up! have released. It gives you a gradual tone across the flower and looks superb. If you haven't used the ombre inks yet then contact me to find out how you can purchase them. They blend really well and create a lovely effect on stamps. The flower patch flower was perfect as it's a solid stamp and really shows the effect.

I cut the flowers out using the matching framelits and also cut an extra one for the inside of my card to carry the theme through the card. The sentiment also comes from this stamp set too which was a bonus as I only used one stamp set to create this entire card.

My colour palette for this card was:

• Sweet Sugar Plum
• Bermuda Bay
• Melon Mambo
• Dapper Denim (sentiment)
• Blushing Bride
• Pear Pizzazz

All the background stamping for this card was stamped off once first on scratch paper (just to lighten each colour by one shade).

The sentiment was mounted onto the card using foam strips as these sit slightly higher than stampin dimensionals and I wanted it to sit high above the flowers.

Cardstock used:

• Sweet Sugar Plum
• Whisper White

Embellishments:

Fancy Frost Sequins (they are soooo gorgeous)!!! I used these cute shiny sequins to decorate some of the flowers on my cards. I used the fine tip glue pen to adhere them!

Crazy Crafter's October Blog Hop with Special Guest - Julie Davidson

Well without further ado, I present to you the card that Julie made and I am CASing today.

This was a card I found through YouTube as I wanted to try something a bit different and use some washi tape in my card. My goal for this year is to use my washi tape and not just keep buying it and collecting it (hehehe). This card is perfect for using up washi tape if you want to get rid of some retired product or in my case, I used the gorgeous new "Pop of Pink" washi tape. I can't get enough of this tape. I have used it quite a few times in my cards recently as I absolutely love the colours. This is definitely something I would stock up on before it retires :)

So below is the Pop of Pink Washi Tape!!! Gorgeous isn't it!

To create the butterfly I used a the  butterfly thinlit die.

and here is the outcome ...

I used some gold sequins to decorate some of the white space. The butterfly was cut out 4 times - 3 times in black and then mounted on top of each other to create some height. the final layer was mounted onto stampin dimensionals so it really lifted above the card to show depth.

After doing this the butterfly still needed something else to finish it off so I decided to use some Wink of Stella around the edges of the butterfly. Can you see it? Not sure if the photo really shows it well, but the card has a gorgeous sparkle around the edges and looks great!

This photo shows the layers of black beneath the white layered butterfly. It looks like the butterfly is just floating above the card with a slight shadow and the layers of washi tape emerging through the cut out parts of the butterfly.

I have purposely cropped the white layer as Julie suggested in her YouTube video to reveal the layer of coloured washi tape background and also create a coloured border at the same time.

Finally I have left off the sentiment this time as I am still deciding what type of card this will be.
